PARENTS
Parental support is critical to the success of all of our sports programs.
The majority of parents, whose children participate, are well behaved. The
GazellesTC wish to thank all those parents for their excellent behavior
and to enlist their support in the up coming seasons.
Unfortunately some parents believe they have a role that is often greater
than their knowledge and understanding of the game. While parents do play
a big role in supporting the children who are actually playing, some
parents believe that part of that role includes reviewing an official’s
call or helping coach their team from the bleachers. Sarcasm, negative
remarks and unsolicited advice have never helped a child enjoy his or her
sporting experience.
Just like at home when your child falls, it is sometimes better to let
your child pick themselves up rather than always stepping in to do it for
them. Unfortunately, as hard as we all try, not all situations in sports
are fair. Show your confidence in your child by letting him/her face a
problem, deal with it and then move on, just as we do as adults. Remember,
the
GazellesTC is
about promoting sportsmanship, teamwork, competition and having fun for
the kids only.
NEVER
YELL AT OR TOUCH AN OFFICIAL
1. Do not force
your child to participate.
2. Help the coach and your child by making sure they are on time and
properly equipped for all practices and meets.
3. Understand your child’s involvement in amateur sports is for their
own personal enrichment & enjoyment.
4. Relieve the pressure of competition by helping players enjoy
practices and meets. Players feel enough pressure on their own.
5. Allow the coach to coach the team! Keep your sideline comments to
supportive ones only.
6. Be present to support my child during meets and team activities.
7. Always encourage my child to obey all rules of competition.
8. Teach your child that hard work and honest effort is as important as
winning. There should never be disappointment when he/she has done
his/her best at that particular time, on that particular day.
9. Lead by example, always applauding for my child and his/her
competitors.
10. Promote the ultimate excellence in good sportsmanship.
11. Never ridicule your child, or any other athlete.
12. Do not publicly ridicule the judgment or honesty of any Official.
(See any head coach to file written/verbal protest)
13. Treat all participants (players, coaches, officials and spectators)
with the same respect that you would want for your own child.
14. Always use sound judgment and professionalism.
15. You are your child's number one role model.
16. Learn all you can about the sport. Before you attempt to interpret
the laws of the sport, be sure you know and understand them.
17. Take an active interest in how participation in sports affects your
child. Help them know that good sportsmanship is as important as
winning.
18. Support the team, club, and league, as we strive to give your
athlete a positive experience.
19. Recognize the value and importance of all volunteer personnel,
officials and coaches.
20. Volunteer when you can. Say "thanks" to those who give their free
time.
21. Always represent the Gazelles Track & Field Club with dignity and
respect.
22. Finally, if your athlete leave the team, no refund. If your
athlete participates in one (1) track meet, no refund. Once uniforms
have been ordered and your athlete leave, no refund unless arrangements
have been made with the head coach. Any and all Refunds are given at the
head coach’s discretion.
Together we can
build the best possible sports experience for our children.
